What is a Nazarene ?

We are a Protestant Christian church in the Wesleyan - Holiness tradition.

We believe in and teach Biblically based holiness which we define as Christlike living.

Nazarene's trace their roots back to 1908.

Bethel Church is over 50 years old having held its first meetings in northeast Detroit.

Today, the Church of the Nazarene is represented in 151 world areas
with over 14,000 active congregations.

We believe that God offers forgiveness, a new life now, and the promise of a personal relationship with God to anyone who will
believe in and acknowledge Jesus as their Living Lord.

As followers of Christ we are called to take this message to people everywhere.

We believe that all humankind struggles with the pull, temptations and results of sin.

		We believe that unless we experience God's help and salvation through a faith commitment to Jesus Christ, our future is one of eternal separation from
		God and all that is good.

		We believe the love and grace of God is extended to every person in the provision Jesus Christ made in his death and resurrection. By turning from our
		personal selfishness to belief and trust in Jesus Christ, we will experience a new life, free from the old patterns of self-destructive acts called sins.

		We believe our new life in Jesus Christ is the gateway to transformation. Following the moment of our faith in Jesus, we believe we will grow in faith and
		knowledge of Christ as we continually experience his transforming power. We will present our whole life to Him holding nothing back in order to live completely for Him under His absolute authority .

		We believe that the Christian experience is more than a change of mind. It is accompanied by assurance that is grounded in both the Scriptures as well
		as the presence and inner witness of God's Spirit who will empower us to do God's will.
